A Publication-based Dissertation: Yes or No?

The publication-based dissertation, as an alternative to a single, large dissertation, is now well established in many disciplines, and for many PhD candidates, the publication-based PhD is an attractive option for gaining early recognition within the scientific community for their research work.

On 1 July 2026, from 1.00 pm to approx. 2.00 pm, doctoral candidates and those interested in pursuing a PhD can learn from the Chair of the Doctoral Committee, Prof. Dr Jutta Stahl, how the publication-based PhD must be structured in accordance with the Faculty of Human Sciences’ Doctoral Regulatons and what needs to be taken into account during the planning stage.

Jutta Stahl will present the provisions of the Doctoral Regulations and explain what they mean in practice (approx. 30 mins); she will then answer questions from participants (approx. 30 mins).

The event will be held in German; English subtitles will be available via Zoom.
Questions from participants in English are very welcome, and English-language slides will be made available afterwards.
