Presentation Event for Doctoral Projects: 4th July, 2025

The presentation day offers the opportunity to present your own doctoral project, discuss it with other doctoral candidates and get to know fellow doctoral candidates and their doctoral projects.

Who can take part?

Doctoral projects at all stages will be presented and discussed. Therefore, those who are still at the beginning or in the planning stage of their research project are just as welcome to present their project as those who have already started or would like to present the results of their dissertation.

Presentations in English are just as welcome as presentations in German.

How can you participate?

Depending on the interests of the participants, two options are possible:

a) Program of short presentations of 20 minutes each

b) Mixed program consisting of short presentations and a science slam at the end
Condition for this: At least three registrations for a slam.

Short lectures:

A slot of 20 minutes is provided for each short lecture.
During these 20 minutes, you will present your research project in a 10-15 minute talk. The presentation should present your research question, the method and, if applicable, the first results of your research project or a particularly exciting problem of your work in a concise and understandable form for non-specialists.
There will then be an opportunity for questions and a brief discussion. Depending on the length of your presentation, 5-10 minutes are planned for the discussion.

Slam:

Less formal but no less informative could be a slot in a science slam:
If you think your research topic rocks and want to prove it from the funny side - perhaps a little less modest for once? - then a 10-minute slam could be the right for you to choose.

To inspire your audience, (almost) anything is allowed:
Show videos, bring your tools or turn us into “Versuchskaninchen” - surprise us, but above all: talk naturally!

The only rules are:
No longer than 10 minutes!
Talk about your own research!
Make it entertaining!

Probably the most demanding audience in the world is hand-picked and will mercilessly evaluate all presentations with rapturous applause.
Slammers as well as the audience will be refreshed with drinks and a small snack.

The program:

The final program will be arranged based on the specific doctoral projects of the participants.

All participants are therefore requested to submit an abstract of their doctoral project of no more than one page at the same time as their registration, but no later than 18.06.2025, to Graduiertenschule-HFSpamProtectionuni-koeln.de.

The definitive program will be announced after the end of the registration period.
