Workshop: Career prospects in science for doctoral candidates and postdocs (in German)

Dr. Alexandra Franzke

Friday, 14.06.2024, 09:00-17:00 hrs

The workshop is aimed at doctoral and postdoctoral researchers who want orientation on the framework conditions of an academic career and are looking for clues to guide their own career in the academic system.

On the one hand, the workshop offers information on the given as well as the plannable framework conditions of an academic career. The general framework conditions of the WissZeitVG will be highlighted, different forms of employment and funding as well as the importance of third-party funding for the academic portfolio and academic prestige will be discussed and individual framework conditions will be clarified.

Furthermore, various career building blocks on the way to a permanent position/professorship and the possibilities for increasing opportunities and minimizing risks are presented. Options for strategic planning will also be discussed.

However, the focus of the workshop is on the individual assessment of the participants and the strategic development of their own career portfolio:

Using a preparatory written reflection task, participants concretize their own current academic profile so that this becomes the starting point in the workshop from which further steps can be derived and planned with a view to their academic career.
